East Lake High School’s Robotics FIRST Team 79 had the opportunity to visit Winter the Dophin at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Winter the Dolphin had sustained some injuries and lost his tail fin. He was able to develop a swim pattern very much like a shark… a side to side motion since he did not have his tail fin.
An engineer was inspired to develop a prosthetic tail fin for winter so that he could swim like a dolphin. Special material was engineered as seen so that Winter could wear his personally designed prosthetic tail fin. the engineer was inspired to help Winter and now Winter inspires many others.
FIRST Robotics inspires students to learn more and also work as a Team to develop skills, build a robot and be able to compete in an annual game!
